Hit & Miss Fencing Installation

A new customer reached out regarding a large, dead conifer hedge covered in ivy. Many of the trees were unstable and posed a risk of falling during storms or in soft ground conditions. Since the hedge bordered a busy path, removing it, along with the stumps, was essential to eliminate potential hazards to the public.

Deciding on the Best Replacement for the Hedge

A new customer invited me round to take a look at a large conifer hedge which was very much dead and covered with ivy. Some of the tree’s were unstable and could have fallen over in a storm or if the ground had got too soft. With the hedge being next to a busy path all of the dead parts of the hedge and the stumps had to be removed to remove the risk from the passing public.

Once the hedge had been removed the customers wanted to retain security & privacy of the front of their house by replacing the hedge with a new fence although replanting a new hedge had been spoken about. But due to the busy path & road we had decided to go with the fence idea as it would take too long to grow and be too expensive to replace another hedge of similar size.

Choosing the Hit & Miss Fencing Style

The edges of the boundary were next to a busy path and road, The customer had asked about heavy duty fencing but they wanted something that would also still allow the wind to blow through as the wind can get very high in the winter. I had suggested hit & miss fencing as a heavy duty fence which would give them instant privacy and security once the hedge had been removed, but it would also allow the wind to blow through, the customers were so happy with the finished job that they booked us in to extend the fencing straight away. We followed the wall in height and around the curve as close as we could so it did not look out of place, we carried out all the work from start to finish, from removing the hedge & tree stumps to supplying and installing all the fencing.

We left the customer garden tidy & we took away all our rubbish, no need to deal with separate tradesman. Now that we are into autumn and approaching winter we carry out a lot of tree maintenance, emergency work and hedge trimming for the final time this year.
